THE FIRST RECORDED WOT SIGNAL
Intercept Report 01
Date: 14 January 1943
Duration: 11 Seconds
The first successful recording contained no words.
Instead, operators described receiving:

A distant horizon.

An unfamiliar landscape.
-
A small white figure standing alone.
The image appeared briefly before disappearing.
At the time it was dismissed as equipment malfunction.
The recording was later recognised as the first known transmission associated with WOT.
No original copy survives.
